Holland-Alaska
Exchange 2004:
THE VISION |
HOW THE PROJECT BEGAN:
In 1979, Dutchman Peter Hoevenaars scaled
Mount McKinley and fell in love with Alaska. Twenty-five years later,
in May 2004, Peter organized a unique cultural exchange which allowed
several Alaskan artists and musicians to exhibit their work and perform
in his home town of Bergen op Zoom, Holland over a period of two weeks.

IMPORTANT
NOTE ABOUT THE ANTICIPATED
2006 ALASKA-HOLLAND EXCHANGE :
Due to lack of adequate sponsorship for our intended
endeavors, we have postponed the Exchange to September 2007. If enough
of the funds already collected or have been promised help us reach our
goals, we believe in a continuation of the Exchange in 2007.
The Alaskan AKICE organization keeps the official status till next year
and we have agreed that action will be taken again after the summer
season 2006 to contact new potential sponsors as well as existing addresses
who have been contacted last February/March 2006 during Peter Hoevenaars'
visit to Alaska.
We thought it was better to give it a second chance for next year since
more time is needed to contact potential sponsors and donors. We still
have many good willing people to support us, both in Alaska, the U.S.,
and in Holland.
We will do our best to keep you informed. If your donated financial
support needs to be returned because we can not keep it till next year
then please let us know! But we want to be sure of continuation of the
event around February/March 2007.
